Download Animating a Newton's Cradle with NLA

Here's a 31 minute tutorial on modelling and animating a Newton's Cradle. The tutorial makes use of Release 11's Non Linear Animation to loop the swing cycle of the balls and also to decay the swinging. The tutorial also shows editing the f-curves to get better swing motion.

The results are not perfect or 100% accurate but this is the best results I've ever achieved doing a Newton's Cradle animation. The NLA part gives a taste of the power of the NLA system in R11.

The tutorial is in 2 parts since I have used a higher frame rate in the videos so that you can see the animation in the viewport better.

Part 2 includes the scene file. Unzip the files and open the html file with your browser.
