Tips on using Cinebench To get the highest possible score we recommend that all background processes and other apps should be turned off and that only Cinebench is running while testing. Also, several runs should be made and the best posted. This should give Cinebench a chance to maximize the computer resources and give a realistic, optimal score. Please post the scores from the default tests.

Test comment. Looks like I'm up for a new graphics card. My 3-4 year old nVidia 7900GS card has been a very good card but I guess it's past it's use by date!!

April 28 2010. MSI ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card installed. I can now run the OpenGL tests. 22.61 isn't too bad for the CPU I'm running.

May 5 2010. Installed latest ATI Catalyst driver. This gave me a big improvement. I also get a small improvement if I disable "Desktop Composition".

Desktop Composition (Windows Aero) enabled: 35.34
Desktop Composition (Windows Aero) disabled: 37.73

Hi Nigel,

my render times with C4D are horrendous and I want to upgrade me system. i need to be doing photorealistic 1080p animations. I make short movies and intergrate CGI objects into my work with other tools such as Syntheyes and After Effects.

My system at the moment is:
P5Ne-Sli
Q6600
2X GeForce 8800GTX Sli
4gig 800mhz ram
2X 500gig HD Western Digital.
Windows 7 64bit.

I would like to upgrade to a i7-980x 3.333ghz and was thinking about a Quadro FX1800 which I know won't help C4D but would be of benefit in other apps such as After Effects which utilizes GPU acceleration. Also 12gig of ddr3 1600.

Would love to know your thoughts.

Sancho.
