Is there a bug with R11.5 External Compositing Tag?

I'm using an external compositing tag on a flat plane in Cinema, and exporting the After Effects .AEC file. That opens fine in CS3. However, it isn't recognizing the data for the flat plane, even though that had the external composting tag attached. The C4D camera and lights showed up just fine, it's just the item with the EC tag that didn't come though.
This worked, perfectly, with every version of cinema before. Am I missing something here??? I searched this forum for others indicating the same problem, but didn't see anything.

Thanks.

Rendering glass objects for 2D compositing

I am wanting to export a coloured glass block into after effects and then put a moving background behind it. The block's basic material properties are:

Colour on: RGB = (0,113,255), brightness 100%
Transparency on: RGB = (0,183,255), brightness 100%, refraction = 1.52, internal on, exit on
Reflection on: Fresnel from about 0% white - 10% white
Specular on: plastic, width 13%, height 100%, falloff 0%, inner width 28%

I have tested how the moving background behind will look in C4D by creating background object and putting a frame of the moving background on it.

I then turn the background off, export a png sequence (straight alpha) and try importing it in After Effects.

Problem is that it doesn't look anything like it does in C4D (it's barely transparent and doesn't look glassy at all). I appreciate that there is no reason why it should, because it is compositing in a total different way.

However... the problem is still there and I was wondering if anyone has any tips. I can alter the C4D project as much as I want - it's more about getting the block to look glassy in After Effects, than getting the C4D project to look right.

cheers
Paul

(P.S. I haven't gone into why I don't just do the entire project in C4D, but trust me there are reasons!)

(P.P.S. this is the background)

(P.P.P.S just realised that it's hard to see that it is a block when it is front on. The final result does need to be front on, but here's the same block at an angle.
Importing image to AE - very dark

Hi!

I have a problem here. I have rendered out an image sequense, but when I import it to AE, it becomes very, very dark. Almost completely black, even though the render is very bright. Anyone have a solution for this?

orientation problem when exporting solids to AE comp

I'm new to cinema 4d and i followed a tutorial (www.vimeo.com/7226475) in order to create an animation in which i could replace a plane object in cinema with a video in after effects. I followed all the steps and when i imported my comp into AE the all the planes that in after effects are now solids have a different orientation. they're supposed to be vertical and they are horizontal when exported. I don't know why this is happening. I think i followed all the steps but clearly i missed something or did something wrong.

I attached the image so you can see how it looks. the part circled is the red solid i replaced with a layer on a .psd file for testing. it is supposed to be on the pink part. that's the original position of the plane. as you can see the eight solids are positioned in pairs making it look like four squares. In my animation the whole structure gets a camera move that goes around it, stopping on each of the "screens" (each "screen" will have a different video or image) as i said there are 8 screens/planes total , one on each side of the four squares. and another thing i have an extra solid the one circled in green called "deep red solid" i don't know where that came from since i only created the ones named IMG A,B,C...

the pass is for the big solid squares, i want to apply a glow in after effects, and i did that in order to apply the effect only to that part of the structure, since i don't want the transparent squares or base to glow.

I hope i explained myself so you can help me. Thanks.

Displacement from Zbrush 3 (mac) to C4D

Hello all I am trying to get a displacement map out of Zbrush into C4D. It appears to work in Zbrush, but when I export the PSD and plug it into a C4D material, to be applied on the base mesh. It does not work. What I do not understand, is how a C4D material should interpret the projection of the displacement from a PSD file? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is my first time attempting this procedure...
