Danel shader rendering with errors

Hi, I created a very short text animation and applied a danel shader as materials. On rendering out, one of the shaders (exterior) came out fine but the interior one has intermittent block artifacts appearing on the front face (most noticable in the video on the front of the S).. Would greatly appreciate if you could look at the video and suggest why this is

How to do flames?

Hey,

I'm looking to do flames coming out of a jet engine on a little cube character. Trying to figure out whats the best way. Originally i was going to composite it in AE but in my animation theres some parts where if i were to do in in AE it just looks cheezy.. So I was wanting to do it inside of c4d.

Didn't know if i could do it with thinking particles or maybe just a light. My jet flame doesn't necessarily have to trail, i actually prefer for it to not. So that's why i was thinking a light might would work with caustics.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Subdivision & skin

Hi,

I have a skinned model which is a bit too low-poly and I would like to subdivide it with HyperNURBS to make it more smooth. It works great, except that the skinning gets all messed up and it looks like every new vertex isn't associated with the skeleton and stays stationary in the world. What's the proper way to subdivide a skinned model in C4D?

Thanks, Jarkko

Default object has properties (nulls, cameras)

Greetings everyone, always appreciate the cafe for help with c4d.

One of the 3d operators here has a problem I've never seen before--whenever he makes a new null or camera object the null is already named, is not at 0,0,0 and has keyframes attached to it. Same goes for his cameras. I know this is something that he probably did but we have no idea how to get it back to default mode where a null just makes a standard 'null' or 'camera' object.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

New(ish) user, with a rocket engine to do!

Hi all,

I'm a sorta new user to C4D, though I've been dabbling for a couple of years and getting nowhere. So finally, I've bitten the bullet and decided to have a serious go at moving over. Up to now I've been using Strata Studio in it's various versions, and know it inside out. So, I'm finding the transition rather difficult! Anyway, I've been given a little job which I think is an ideal C4D candidate, as I can't see any way to do a decent job of it in Strata.

I have to show a rocket engine nozzle, and how the flow of gases from combustion changes as the air pressure changes. At sea level, it emerges more-or-less parallel, and gradually expands as the pressure decreases. I thought of Thinking Particles / Pyrocluster, or perhaps splines with objects moving along them to show the flow. The nozzle itself will be a cutaway so we can see inside it, as there's a versions which needs to show a device fitted inside the nozzle.

Does anyone have any thoughts, before I disappear down a blind alley?! I really, really want to get to grips with C4D this time!

Cheers

help with GI settings

I am rendering a project for school and it is a fairly heavy scene. I have a long city street that I am animating a camera down. I am using GI and at my current settings which are: IR (camera Animation) it is taking about 13 minutes a frame. My machine is a 3.2 xeon quad core mac pro with 16gb of ram. I really was hoping to tame the the GI as much as possible without really effecting the scene all that much. I was thinking QMC, but i don't know much about the settings. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Freeze Animation + Move Camera?

Is this possible?

I want to have my animation start, freeze and make the camera move to another angle whilst the animation is still frozen and then carry on with the animation.

I want to go from this angle:

to this angle:

In the middle of the animation process, as you can see, the animation is a ball landing in a group of cubes with rigid body enabled.

Is this possible?

(Just say if you dont know what im on about XD)

light emission

i have looked through the forums, but nothing is quite tackling what i am trying to do. basically i need to have the mirrorball reflect light, and since, from what i have gathered, visible light reflections are not easily achieved, i figured i would copy the mirrorball mirror faces and attempt to make them emit random lengths of light beams. any ideas on a way to do this? is this making any sense?

Extrude and Bevel Tools

So i don't know if i clicked on something and it isnt working anymore, but when i go to extrude a loop selected line to make another polygon, it won't do it.. it'll just increase that current polygon instead of making a new one.. sometimes the samething happens with my bevel tool.. instead of beveling it'll just extend the polygon.

Any idea how i screwed this up?

thanks,
