how was your way up to Cinema 4D

Hi

I would like to start a poll. how was your way up to Cinema 4D and what your experiences.

My story.

I starded 2001 with a 3D book for Bryce. I saw this beautiful glas on water renders. for that time it was just wow.
After that I bought Bryce. I started by full. every day and night I sat at Bryce. At that time there was the only pastime for me.

My biggest Model had 320`000 single objects and that was also the limit for Bryce and my PC at that time.

2005 I bought Vue. man that was great but also very frustrating. Vue was so unstable and the rendertimes preserve so many time. For the first time I looked for other 3D software. I found Poser. Great Humangenerator. I payed just a bit with it and I noticed, that Poser was not the app. I`m searching for. After that I make a big change. CAD app. was my goal. I visited a FormZ course.

On time I saw images from Cinema 4D and that was what I have searched so long time. I bougt Cinema 4D R8 Studio Bundle. I went and ordered it and I've paid in cash. The man next to me have looked with big Eyes and I had a big smile in my face.

Since that time I work with Cinema 4D as a hoppyist.

Classic Italian Architectural Models...

Does anyone know of a good source for high quality models of classic italian architectural models, the kind of buildings you'd find in Tuscany? I'll be searching the obvious sources such as Turbosquid but was hoping that someone might know of a source that I don't know of. Alternatively, does anyone have any high quality models that they'd like to sell?

Cheers

fx animation - suggestion how to do this

Hi!
Simply link to something i really like here
Want to ask about those effects. I know that it is more advanced one and do not expect that you will tell me how to do that, but if you can tell me how could i do those colorful smoking balls moving inside this glassy big ball. The biggest question mark is how to achieve dodging colors when they cross themselves( i mean brightness is going to be more intensive), and this beautiful animating tail, which for me is the most important for me ( on this basis i could do some stunning effects and make big money! (joke:D)) . I do something like that with sweep nurbs and assigned gradient pattern for some material layer, and then animate nurbs - but here (apart that it's little to fast to recognize well) i feel that this tail of the ball is made by some plugin (particle effect i quess - single pixels changing distance between other pixels from tail whilst animation).
Anybody any experiences, any tutorials or links to something what would give me a little step toward understanding this technique...?
Thanks for viewing, and reply in advance:)
Introducing: Net Render Graphite. A free theme for your C4D Net Render interface. This is the first release, and though it isn't really software, it could be considered a beta version. This theme doesn't change the way net render functions, it only affects the layout and look of the interface. Questions & feedback appreciated!

Installation is quick and simple. Download and instructions here: Net Render Graphite

Free plugin: Oscillator

I felt like doing something different and relaxing a bit this weekend ;-)

Here's the result: The Oscillator plugin

The plugin provides a new XPresso node.

The Oscillator node generates several standard waveforms (sawtooth, triangle, square, sine, cosine, pulse, random pulse, custom curve) with uniform periods and value ranges, that come in very handy for animation. Swinging and jumping objects, blinking and flickering lights, all this is just a few clicks away with the Oscillator node.

The ZIP contains plugin versions for CINEMA 4D R10 - R11.5, as well as a manual in PDF format.

Hope you like it ;-)

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know I am compiling a host of video tutorials on my site covering C4D and other motion graphic and 3D software.

C4D has been blasted out of the Top 5 this week by After Effects and Realflow!

Nick Campbell remains at the top with his BBC Logo tutorial and enters the chart with Part 1 of his Car Racing Scene. Realflow makes its first appearance in the chart with Part 1 of Kieran Mithanis’ Splashy Setup.

Come along and take a look at the C4D stuff. There are some great mentors on there, all with their full support. Theres over 40 C4D tutorials alone!
The i7 chips are faster than Zeon chips, right? I'm drooling thinking about a 12 core mega-render, transforming Mac Pro (I hope)!
