New Imac VS old Quad G5

Hi

Just curious how the new Imac would run against an old G5 Quad 2.5 machine. I have been wanting to upgrade for awhile but I do more photoshop work than 3d and when I do work in C4D it only stills..never animation. A new Imac..topped out would be sooo much cheaper..but...any insight?...would I be moving forward..backwards or standing still?

Much appreciated

Buying New Mac Pro

Hey guys. I will be purchasing the new Mac Pro for freelance in August. I've been trying to decide between a single 6 core (3.33 ghz) vs an 8 core (2.4 ghz). I have a 2008 8-core Mac Pro at work with 10gb ram, so that's what I'm used to. I'm aware of the 4 slot memory limitation in the single processor, but I'm not too worried about that. So, my question is this. What will give me the best performance for my money? Is it basically 6 render buckets vs 8? I'm leaning towards 6, especially after reading this article.

This machine will used for C4D 11.5 (obviously) and After Effects CS5.
