Hi everybody!
I'm kind of stuck here...
I want to make a lightbulb that swings on the end of a wire.
The wire I've done with spline dynamics, but how do I attach the lightbulb object to the end of the wire so that it follows the motion?

TIA
Erik

Here's a simple XPresso set up.

The spline's second point (Index1) position is fed to the sphere position.
When the end point moves, the bulb will follow.

HTH. Cheers, Alan.

Repeat after me: Path spline in TOP, profile in FRONT.

Alan,
That worked perfectly!
Now the next challenge:
What if I also want it to rotate according to the rotation of that vertex?

There's a challenge for you!

He-he! Catch me if you can, Erik. :welcome:

A couple of Constraints and a little dash of COFFEE courtesy of Chris Montesano.
Move or rotate the 'Move or H-Rotate Me' null.

Bulb aimed to first spline point.
Flex spline length fixed.
Bulb can be rotated in H.

The XPresso could probably be tidied up a little. Possibly without the Constraint tags but they are easier.
Anyway, it works. http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

Cheers, Alan.

PS. The COFFEE is from the current 3DAttack magazine. Worth getting for this tutorial alone.

Repeat after me: Path spline in TOP, profile in FRONT.

Could not he simply use aim constraint at hidden null attached to desired vertex?

EDIT:just saw that you want rotate according to vertex :)
