Anybody here playing with the new Vray 1.1 yet? BRDF materials look interesting. I'll install once my rendering's finished.

mine wont install, theres a few problems i think with the installer for osx although a few PC problems cropping up also....they are working on it.
75 new features in it! some of the images and examples look awesome!
that renders never going to finish anyway.

PS: I did not had any problems installing it. WinXP and R11.

Object buffer and much improved compositing tag options at last
The material library is amazing too. I think 1.1 has been worth the wait. http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/public/style_emoticons/default/thisrocks.gif
PS. Hope I don't crash my machine http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

yep, have you checked out the wood and concrete textures? some of them are awesome! Object buffer well handy now!
If you going to test out vray aswell as rendering your ice id go careful unless you have bucket loads of ram and running 64 bit, i managed to get my ram usage up to 6 gig yesterday, it will bomb if you dont have enough!!

I dont own vray but since the new AR module came out everyone has been saying how close AR and VRAY have got in terms of what results they give, would you say this has moved them apart again leaveing AR trailing?

I got mine installed today and it looks like it's going to be fun diving into it. Lots of new features!
I was born with nothing, I still have most of it.

question about the proxies. Do they really save ram? or are they just a referencing system like Xrefs? I know they would save ram on display but what about the rendering and does it also save rendering time?

HI,
yeah, its a demo project, and everything installed fine, no errors.
I'll check out the forums. I've used vray a lil on PC, and I hope its stable on OSX, since thats what I use most.
Thanks.
