Hi everyone. I've put together an epic 65 minute tutorial showing various methods of creating smooth round holes or smooth round extrusions on objects. The image attachments below are a few examples of what I cover in the tutorial.
Covered:
Simple hole in 4 polygons.
Why using Booleans isn't a good idea and what happens when you try to bevel an extrusion created using a boolean union on 2 cylinders.
Holes and extrusions by copying in a disc object. Hard surface version and Subdivision surface variations demonstrated. Shrinkwrap deformer required. This technique forms the majority of the tutorial.
At the end of the tutorial I briefly demonstrate creating holes and extrusions with the "Make a hole" script by Sandi Dolsak, Cylinder to Cylinder II plugin by Jurgen Meier and a Nurbs version using MoI 2 and then exporting it into Cinema 4D.
Although recorded with R13, users of R11 and R12 should have no problems following along. 146mb. The tutorial can be downloaded here.
Enjoy

p.s. This tutorial replaces a quickie one I did about a week ago. That was done to answer a specific question for a member. I wanted to expand upon what I covered.
