Hi everyone. Wow what an excellent challenge with some stunning entries. We couldn't nail down one only third place so decided that the only fair thing to do was have 3 equal third places. Without further ado, the winners are:

The winners are:

1st Place - cerbera
2nd = Place - Bigbot
3rd Place - Cappuccino, Tralfaz and Violst

Honourable mentions:

turbotoes and Karen

You can view these images in the gallery here.

Well done everyone. Challenges are taking a holiday since Release 13 will be out any day now along with the demo. We think most people will be playing with this and therefore won't have time for a challenge. Challenges will return in a week or so.

Congratulations to the winners. Some very high quality entries and I guess cerbera's first was a rather foregone conclusion, though Bigbot must have run him close.
For me, Cappuccino's was the most novel, least formulaic, and for that reason the most appealing.
I may not be good but I'm slow.

Ah good, 3D Kiwi found the cash I left round the back of his bins.

I thought both of Bigbot's were exceptional, loved the modelling on Tralfaz's and Cappucino's and the texturing work on Violst's and Karen's were original and amazing. Feel like I fluked it, really...

Might try some of my outdoor scenes with motion blur in R13 when the damn postman gets here. COME ON !

Anyway - thanks everyone for a hugely enjoyable challenge...

PS: and what happened to Pablo ? His ship was the dogs nuts - did it not get entered ?

I'll give you an honourable mention. I thought yours was the most aesthetically pleasing design of all, and your renders were great. And the suggestions you gave me on subdivision allowed me to put a hell of a lot more detail into mine, so I def have you to thank for that too...

Congrats to all who won! With all of the amazing entries, I figured I might get honorable mention, but am thrilled with 3rd place!

Everyone who entered should be proud of themselves. I loved watching the progress of each of the entries as they grew from concept to finished products.

The cafe has some extraordinary talent and imagination here.

Long live the cafe...

I've been watching this challenge with great interest and even had a go at making something myself (although never got'em to final stage). The WIPs were a great inspiration and learning tool for me as a noob and the more they evolved the more I tried to do better with my own attempts all the while learning more during this period than I had in weeks and months of *fiddling* around with tutorials and such. Aside from the well deserved congratulations to the winners and all who submitted final entries, I'd like to say thanks for the ride - it was fun. Looking forward to the next one.

Hello, firstly let me conratulate you on your win! I was watching the progress of the challenge everyday and it was great to see you rendering and re-rendering... til you came up with this awesome looking final image.
Bigbots design deserves to be animated into a space battle, i can see that one looking great in motion.
My design had to be put on hold unfortunately. I had a lot of work arrive and that takes priority over challenges. I'm going to try and finish it off though.
Great work by everyone again, it's good to see such a popular challenge.
Cheers,
Pablo
