I'm extraordinarily new at c4d but I'm struggling with creating this object that should be simple. I need to wrap a helixed plain around a sphere, but the plane must hug the sphere. I've attached an image of what I'm trying to create. Any advice on how to make the helix form-fit the sphere would be greatly appreciated.

The effect you are after can be achieved by using texture with alpha channels projected to a sphere using cylinder projection.

If you had R13 you could use the Collision deformer.

I did this in R13 but there's nothing there that wasn't in R11.5.
It's a Sweepnurbs using a helix spline and a nearly flattened rectangle spline with a Spherify deformer.
I haven't been able to prevent the tape pinching towards the poles but changing the Start and End growths in the Sweepnurbs limits the damage.

I may not be good but I'm slow.
