Tracer
Tracer is probably my favourite thing in MoGraph. It can be used to create splines between clones or wait for it………. particles!! The action starts when the clones or particles move around and you get flowing curved splines. All that you need to do with the Tracer object is drop it under a Sweepnurbs object along with a spline that defines the profile of the shape and you’re up and away. There’s a range settings like the limit. Often with the limit setting you will want to use the “From end” setting and then define the length of the splines in frames. Other important settings include whether the Tracer spline connects the clones or objects and then my favourite - Traces paths.
Tracer takes advantage of the enhanced Sweepnurbs object that was introduced in 9.6. You’ll see in the animation where I’ve been able to control the diameter of the tails using this.
Let’s have a look at a few examples.
At the Café we have a short video tutorial on using Tracer.
