I uploaded a free library of 330 Chinese patterns a while ago:   A C4D Cafe member asked me if I could show how I did those patterns. In this video we are going to do a simple example, recreating one of those patterns. SDS Excercise 06: One more sphere... TL

Subdivision Surface Excercise 06: One more sphere... (Time Lapse Version)   In subdivision surface excercise number 6 we will model another sphere. This one has four big holes evenly distributed across its surface, plus a number of small ones to add some interesting detail.   There currently only is this time lapse version of the tutorial. I don't know yet if I'll do a full tutorial with narration on this one. In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
 

SDS Excercise 06 (Full tutorial)

Subdivision Surface Excercise 06: One more sphere...   In this 65-minute tutorial we'll have a look at sub-d modelling one more spherical object. This sphere has four big holes evenly distributed across its surface, plus a couple of smaller ones to make the object look more interesting.   The goal, as usual, is to create clean geometry without any triangles and N-gons.    In the video I'm using the "Even Distribution" script, which is part of the HB Modelling Bundle

SDS Excercise 05: Holes in Sphere

In subdivision surface excercise No. 05 we will take a look at one way of putting some holes into a sphere.    In this video I am using a plugin by C4DZone called "Quadcaps". Today I would like to introduce you to PowerSpline by C4DZone, which is a useful and affordable addition to the set of Cinema 4D standard spline types.    PowerSpline comes with a number of default spline shapes that can be edited parametrically and used with the C4D standard tools and generators, like Sweep, Loft, MoSpline, Extrude etc. Amont other things, it can be quite useful for architectural modeling (e.g. for creating doors, windows).    One of my favourite features is

Modelling Pipe Connections
