  1. Animated Text using MoSpline

Here's a 40 minute tutorial on how animate text being written as per our R11.5 review (no longer on-line). MoGraph's MoSpline object is used at the very end of the tutorial to add the swirly bits so even if you don't have the Broadcast or Studio edition you can get something very similar just using the core version of C4D. The bulk of the tutorial is how to prepare the text spline.
The zip file includes the final scene file.

  2. Making a texture stick to clones

Here's a mini tutorial on how to make a texture stick to clones so that when the clones move around the texture goes with the clones. Recorded in R10.5 but users of newer versions should be able to follow along without too many problems. Included is the scene file and cafe logo in psd format. The psd image includes a built in alpha channel. If you don't want the black part of the image visible on the clone then enable the alpha channel and load in the psd image into the alpha channel of the material.

  3. Swinging Objects using Spline Dynamics

Here's a 14 minute video on how to use HAIR's excellent spline dynamics to make an object suspended by a spline fall and swing realistically. A bit of simple XPresso is used to help. Scene file included.

  4. Jigsaw Animation using Fracture object

Here's a 20 minute tutorial on creating a Jigsaw Puzzle animation using a Fracture Object. The tutorial is recorded using R12. Users of newer versions should be able to follow along without too many problems.

The tutorial covers extruding the puzzle splines, setting up the Fracture object, getting around the problem of the material slipping on the pieces. The tutorial shows 2 ways to animate the pieces, first with a Random Effector and secondly with Dynamics.

I didn't mention in the tutorial but if you are using Dynamics instead of the Fracture Object you don't actually need the Fracture object. The Fracture Object is only required if you are using MoGraph Effectors.

This tutorial is hosted on Vimeo. Clicking on the download button will take you there. You will be able to download the original high res version rather than watching the low quality streaming version. The download button also has a link to download the scene files.

  5. MoGraph - Playing with Invisibility

Here's a 8 minute video of me playing around with MoGraph and making clones invisible. Not really a tutorial more of an appetiser for members to go and have a play themselves. Sometimes when using MoGraph you don't actually want the clones to move, scale or rotate but just want them hidden or unhidden. The video shows how to do it.
The zip includes the scene file from the animation like in animated gif above.

  6. Screen Zipper / MoGraph Delayed Animation

Here's a cool 37 minute tutorial where I create what I refer to as a "Clone Zipper" animation as shown in the screenshot. Click on it to view the animation if it's not playing already.

I start off with a couple of simpler examples and show using the Step Effector and how you can use the Shader Effector for more control on how the delay is applied to the objects. I show how to avoid object distortion by using a MoGraph Matrix object and how to offset selected rows of clones by using MoGraph selections.

This tutorial is hosted on Vimeo. Clicking on the download button will take you there. You will be able to download the original high res version rather than watching the low quality streaming version.

  7. Animated LED Lights with MoGraph

Here's a 9 minute tutorial on how to do animated LED lights using MoGraph. The tutorial uses the Volume Effector which came out with 10.5 so earlier versions of C4D and MoGraph won't be able to follow along.

The zip file includes the final scene file. To play the tutorial unzip the download and open the swf file with your browser.
