How can I animate a dynamic object?

Recommended Posts

I want to animate an envelope I have created falling to the table, then opening. My problem is, once I apply the rigid body tag to the envelope, it falls to the floor, bounces correctly, but then my keyframed animation of the flap opening does not happen.

How should I be attempting to go about this?

Thanks for any help.

Hi, create two envelopes one with dynamic one without. Leave one on the table and keyframe the visible by render to happened after the dynamics end.

Dynamics are consistent once you've stopped playing with the parameters, so it shouldn't be a problem. You can even cache dynamics to make it easier.

Dynamics are such that they should play out the same every time you run them, but if you are unconvinced of this you can cache the animation, then stop it when the envelope has settled. Then move your animated opening envelope under the other one as a child, then use 'Reset PSR' to put them in the same place.

Edit: AB and I are writing things at the same time again :)
