Wireframe following mountain contours

Hi there,

 

I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to achieve the landscape wireframe grid shown in Image A.

I have already created a 3D object of a mountain, I would like to use this object to map lines to the contours and curves of the mountain.

I'm wondering if it's a mesh solution or texturing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
