Sub Polygon Displacement Rounding Issue

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm trying to achieve the displacement of Image A (Sub Polygon Displacement - Round Geometry Disabled) with the rounding of Image B (Sub Polygon Displacement - Round Geometry Enabled). When I apply the Round Geometry option everything look great except for the displacement, and of course the opposite when I turn it off. Is there a way to achieve the best of both worlds?

Thanks!

Very well explained and excellent reference images - more like that please :)

Yes it's possible, but not within the same material - so you'll need to copy the original displacement material, adjust the rounding setting in the new one, then split the top section of the model off into a new mesh (not forgetting to delete the polys on the original) and give that the new material instead. You could possibly do it within the same model using selection tags, but I find that gives weird results sometimes when using displacement.

Thank you so much @Cerbera! That definitely achieved the result I was looking for.
