My wish list - being able to put Python-style comments in the OM, and a much larger clear screen button in the console

Improvements on Bodypaint/UV mapping

Improved SDK for 3rd party render engines.

Nodal materials

Improvement on Xpresso and Python

but overall, keep the stability and iron out existing bugs

for console can be used large icons after expanding and docking icon palette

i'll chime in as well with my predictions for r20:

- prorender improvements, but probably it will still suck a** compared to other gpu renderers.

- viewport improvements, while i hope it will be significant, i somehow lost my faith that we will ever get a viewport performance anybody would call fast.

- some minor character animation tools improvements.

- nodal material system (they just can't not do this any longer)

- some rather small mograph additions/improvements

- some bodypaint improvements.

- probably some vr stuff

what i don't think we will see in r20:

-any kind of particle stuff, they know pretty much everyone settled for xp.

-expresso updates (i don't know why, just a feeling)

what i really wish for is significant viewport performance improvement and character tool enhancements. pretty sure we will see both, the only question is to what extend. and of course also the nodal material system, although i'm rendering in redshift most of the time anyways these days. also some additional hair tools would be nice.

The new and much quicker core. On screen playback will be fast.

Nodes everything including materials. Updated Xpresso / node system.

UV toolset essentially rewritten.

A new particle system to replace Thinking Particles. If it doesn't come in R20 it will come later.

More modelling tool enhancements to take advantage of the rewritten modelling core.

Forgot to mention my wish list of the modelling tools we are still badly in need of, which include but are not limited to:

  • Shell command, with inner and outer distances and control loop options.
  • Push command that works with edges and points and polys.
  • Set Flow Adjusts edge / point selections to match the surrounding curvature.
  • Create loop end
  • Generate  Specialist Topology (Merk Vilsson has plugged this gap with his new plugin, but even so!) Turns quads into diamonds and other special types.
  • Proper Face Constraints and Edge Constraints like 3DSMax has. Should work with scripts so we can 'Points to circle' whilst face constrained.
  • New ProBoolean toolset that creates quads.
  • A native Greebler, beyond extrudifier.
  • A rewritten Landscape Primitive with a lot more options than currently.
  • Floating Geometry
  • and last but not least, OpenSubDiv that works with UV maps.

No idea how much, if any of that will be in R20 but I've been putting them in their suggestions form for quite a while now !

Also top on my list are: viewport performance improvement and great character animation&rigging improvements. I hope PSD works perfectly in r20.

no one has mentioned the "make it pretty button" :wackywink:

I agree with the nodal materials,  (they may get left behind if they don't)

they may incorporate something like GSG's: topcoat, Signal, HDRI studio, LIghtKit Pro

a smattering of modeling tools

Nodal material system, more improvements to view port speed and performance, I imagine at least 1 new modelling tool, new uv tools, improvements to pro render, maybe a fix for open subdiv to stop giving @Cerbera a reason to spam MAXON with emails ;)  some updates to the rigging and animation side of things, also I'm not sure if it's been sorted with the latest R19 update but there was still a bug with the knife tool, making unwanted cuts much the same as we had with R18 when it came out

Oh I haven't noticed that, and I use the knife tool all the time. You sure that was broken in R19 ?
