Normal Map Creation

I want to create a normal map out of actual hair geometry.

I read that i can use infinte lights from every side with corresponding color (blue/green/red = x/y/z/).

Does sombody has a detailed explanation for this setup?

Interesting. What are you gonna do with that Normal Map then, once you've got one ?

You can make normal maps from photos, but IDK if Cinema has this function built in.

You'd probably have to use 3rd party software, like xnormal or awesomebump.

Maybe doable in PS, scroll to the bottom of the page: aixsponza.com/projects/schwedenbomben/

    I will use this normal map for fine details in my knitting structure.
    I´m making a nike air max shoe (just for fun)

    It doesn't look like a normal map to me, but does it work?

    Try replicating what aixsponza did with the photos.

    Use top view, position the c4d light so it shines from top, hit render.

    Repeat from each 3 remaining sides. Use PS to make normal map from 4 black&white images.

  • It´s not possible to make normal mal with photos out of a knitting structure (like i have)!
    1: It´s layerd structure (warp/weft knitting)
    2: The knitting material has to much specular.
