"flat"/one color hair render

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am currently working on a simple animation in c4d where all the textures are "flat", just 100% luminance in different colors. I have this character that has hair, and I am trying to render the hair in a similar way. Thing is, for some reason the hair still shades darker and lighter in different places despite unchecking specular, backlit color etc in the hair texture settings (see attached image).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hard to say without scene. If you can, post just hair object, material and render setings  in simplified scene.

...btw, isn´t some underlaying geometry under the hair?

the thing with the hair shader is that it doesn't have a luminance channel... to make the hair look consistent with the rest of your scene, just generate hair instances instead and put a regular luminance material on it...  @Rectro just made a tutorial about how to make hair instances, you can use this technique to generate poly hair, you don't have to convert it to poly models, you can still have them be dynamic and all... see this thread:
