Roll expression

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Seems that Roll plugin is not working on R20, trouble is that I really need a working solution for this since my new scenes contain fields. I've searched high and low and there seems to be no solution for rolling apart from using some spline trickery or limiting the effect to single axis. Did someone manage to build a working rolling rig? I am willing to turn this into payed gig if needed

EDIT admin: roll as in Maya MakeRoll or simple moving of object leads to rolling of the same

You mean rolling effect as in a red carpet rolling or something like that?

if so you just use the bend deformer while rotating it 2-3 degrees so it is not totally on the axis that you want, this should help getting the spiral look.

Second request for rolling this week. I built this and works only on XZ plane but it seems right....

Currently it uses a simple sphere. Select the sphere itself and transform to automatically roll it. You can change the roll object in null user data link but then you will have to change iteration values for points of loaded object (best to do on frame 0 with all reset) or automate that too. There is an issue with undo or resetting but that can be solved also and I am low on time :)

EDIT: I edited the first post, was asked via pm for this

@HSrdelic If your avatar is little Mr. C4D 2.0, he is a very cute little guy. I guess your wife must be the beautiful one. :lol::lol::lol:

But seriously, how awesome would it be if there was a built-in solution in C4D to make things like vehicle wheels roll properly? I would imagine this would be "simple" compared to the Character Builder we have, right?

@BigAl3D Have you tried the base80 wheel ? You just make the wheel the same size as the vehicle wheel, and make the real wheel a child. You can also link rot P in XPresso. Works in any direction, as long as you move the parent.

base80.c4d

@HSrdelic that looks a lot like Roll-It

Version 2 :)

Added ground detection on Y so it follows terrain. Hope this helps R20 people who need roll functionality. To use, simply load a ground and roll object in top null in object manager
