Replacing MoText characters w/ models

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to replace the MoText characters with custom made models. Any idea if this is possible? My objective is to use MoText to set and kern the type then replace the characters with stylized custom characters.

So you want to make them into meshes instead of fonts? If so, then I would right-click the MoText object and select "Current State to Object." This will make a mesh, but leave your original instact in case you need to change something. Keep in mind that your mesh letters will have separate pieces, rounding, caps and depth.

A bit more complex than that. I've created a custom alphabet based on Helvetica and would like to set live type via MoText that will then drive the custom character set. Here's an example of the workflow I'm shooting for, if it's possible.

1 - Set type in Helvetica using MoText

2 - Replace standard Helvetica characters with the custom models, retaining kerning etc.

    3 - Render

Right now I'm setting the type, committing it, and then using the Replace With command to replace the committed characters with the custom characters. I'm hoping to find a more streamlined process.
