Hey girls and boys,

For the past week, I've been trying, quite unsuccessfully, to rig my Robot Robert. The problem is Robert doesn't have a torso/body, so I've been searching Youtube and Vimeo for any tutorials that overview a character rigging without a torso. No luck. So here I am asking for any help. Ideally, i want Robot Robert to have a Noodle/Rubber hose style rig with the ability to move his legs, arms and head which is at the same time his body.

Would appreciate highly even the most reluctant attempt to help a lady ;)) Thanks!

Character Animation is one of the harder things to do in 3D. If you are very new at this, it is quite ambitious to think you can just jump in and make it all work, there is quite a lot of setting up involved.  It often takes years and years to learn the skills required to animate characters successfully ! However the rigging that comes before you do the actual walk cycle isn't too tricky, and there are tools in Cinema that make this a lot easier, and video tuts that show how to animate the sort of bendy arms and legs you're after. There also many different ways of animating characters. If you want bendy limbs, then perhaps rigging with standard joints isn't the way to go....

Maybe Spline IK to the rescue ?

Hi, your robot is alive. to animate to bring to live. he is taken the first step. i have messed about with your original file

to enable me to rig ,bind and animate the first step. Study the file that's the only way you will learn. i basically connected all the objects first and then used the character object to rig and bind the mesh. Good luck.
