Project polys

Recommended Posts

Hi Cafe

Can I project polys onto an existing mesh in the same way you can project a spline ? Or is a case of snapping.

Also while Im here, is there a shortcut to switch between points polys and lines, never found one for some reason.

Cheers

Yes, via the Sculpting menu's Project Mesh command or via the Surface Deformer.

Also yes ! Enter cycles between component modes.

  • ta for that, just experimenting with surface deformer, is there a trick to making it work in projection mode.

the sculpt route seems to work just as I wanted, at least on the test file.

Yes, use the right mode, which isn't Projection ;) You want the next one down in this case...

Note: UVs are very important to this method - if they are wrong, this will fail.

  • Typically the sculpt is not working in my file for some reason, tho i tested it fine in a separate file. and the surface deformer just goes mental under UV mode, i haven't mapped it yet.

Will leave that heaed scratcher till after dinner I think.

    Cheers

There's also Point Projector from Frank Willeke:

works on spline and geo, non-destructively.
