Trouble selecting components to adjust

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This has been driving me up the wall.  I'm trying to use the character object (on a bird).  I modeled my bird, built the rig with the object, and now on the adjust phase.  I find it so difficult to select the components to move around.  Half the time I end up selecting the mesh behind, half the time I end up selected multiple components, and another half (yeah, we're talking 3 halves) C4D refuses to select anything.

I've had this problem before, and never figured out an answer.  Is the character object just a pain? Or am I missing something?

HI, i am not sure how it is in r20, but in r15 when you have the cursor over the joint it is then turns white and the component name appears, which should make easier to select and move.

Pls update your profile to the correct version.

I almost never use that so am way out of my area of expertise here, but isn't there a display tab in the Character object that lets you turn various elements on or off for exactly that reason ? Or is my memory of that just ...wrong ? :)

several ways to make the experience more enjoyable:

1. put your mesh on a layer and lock the mesh.

2. use the move tool instead of the selection tool to select the items

3. when there are several adjustment handles in the same place, use right click and choose item to select
