Why are you so jumpy to conclusions...please watch whole presentation, then lets talk. :) For me personally this realase is awesome...I cannot go back to R20 anymore and you will soon see why. :)

i can second that. of course it always depends a little on what your area of interest is, for people doing animation it's really a great release for instance.

If you pay for the perpetual license or the upgrade for a perpetual license, does that automatically include RedShift or do you have to pay extra for that too?

I think it comes with reduced price...I am not sure.

My only concern with subscription software is what I have seen from Adobe. Adobe has become more disappointing over the years, with innovation eventually devolving to lackluster updates every year. Subs are ok, but they eventually lead to companies focusing on getting their investors a paycheck, while they gradually reduce the amount spent on RandD and innovation since they don't have to really sell their product to customers annually anymore.

I LOVE C4D and what it has done over the years, but this makes me kind of think the future is going to be users eventually becoming less important than investors. I hope competition with Maya, Blender, and Houdini will at least keep them on their game.

I just saw the answer on the MAXON site. If I want C4D only and pay annually, its $720 + tax. If you want C4d + Redshift its $984 + tax annually. If you choose the monthly payments its more expensive.

From my understanding, MSAs (depending on when they were last renewed) will get R21 and will be offered a conversion to subscription (losing the perpetual license).

    on the site.

"BodyPaint 3D and Cinema 4D Prime, Broadcast, Visualize and Studio editions will be discontinued as of September 1, 2019. All features of BodyPaint 3D and the Cinema 4D editions are included in Cinema 4D R21 and will continue to be developed. If you currently have an active MSA for Cinema 4D Prime, Broadcast, Visualize, Studio or BodyPaint 3D on Sept 1, 2019 you’ll receive a perpetual entitlement to Cinema 4D R21. At any time before the expiration of your current MSA, you can purchase a 2-year Cinema 4D Subscription at a discounted price similar to MSA pricing for your Cinema 4D edition. "

One major thing about continuing with a perpetual license is that you don't get any upgrades or cinevirsty, which only comes with subscription licensing. I don't like this.

I don’t use them much but for those discussing UV’s, this is on the website.

Cinema 4D Release 21 lays the groundwork for future UV enhancements, with an improved Texture / UV view that’s anti-aliased and faster. With the new UV Transform Tool you can modify UV points and polygons easily – tweaking position, rotation, scale, skew and distortion of entire UV sections easily. Further enhancements include a UV ruler display, option for quantized UV transformations and snapping support for UV points and edges.
