First of all, Studio priced dropped by 1000€.

The subscription is amazing for freelancers, for example, that don't want to shell out 3000€ to get started. You basically get C4D for 600€ a year now. Yes, in the (very) long run it's more expensive if you ignore the new features you get. But there's still the perpetual license for this. Buy it once, own it forever.

When you say a perpetual license dropped by 1000, do you mean that as just the buy in price, or that each year if you want to buy a perpetual license you need to pay the full price rather than what it costs now for an existing user, which is the MSA price? I feel like things are probably obvious, and I'm just not seeing it. :)

We don't have the whole picture yet and the website is down. For now the stand-alone is cheaper, you have a sub for freelancers/studios and even me (adding Octane at $20 and I have a amazing combo under $100/month. This is amazing).

I'm pretty sure perpetual users will also have good things. I'm definitely happy, that's for sure.

Why are you so jumpy to conclusions...please watch whole presentation, then lets talk. :) For me personally this realase is awesome...I cannot go back to R20 anymore and you will soon see why. :)

i can second that. of course it always depends a little on what your area of interest is, for people doing animation it's really a great release for instance.

If you pay for the perpetual license or the upgrade for a perpetual license, does that automatically include RedShift or do you have to pay extra for that too?

I think it comes with reduced price...I am not sure.

My only concern with subscription software is what I have seen from Adobe. Adobe has become more disappointing over the years, with innovation eventually devolving to lackluster updates every year. Subs are ok, but they eventually lead to companies focusing on getting their investors a paycheck, while they gradually reduce the amount spent on RandD and innovation since they don't have to really sell their product to customers annually anymore.

I LOVE C4D and what it has done over the years, but this makes me kind of think the future is going to be users eventually becoming less important than investors. I hope competition with Maya, Blender, and Houdini will at least keep them on their game.

I just saw the answer on the MAXON site. If I want C4D only and pay annually, its $720 + tax. If you want C4d + Redshift its $984 + tax annually. If you choose the monthly payments its more expensive.

From my understanding, MSAs (depending on when they were last renewed) will get R21 and will be offered a conversion to subscription (losing the perpetual license).
