Node editor textures inside deformers

Hi Everyone

 

This was certainly mentioned before but i'm unable to see it. Is there a way we can use a certain texture or map from the material node editor in order to control a derfomer or a field. For example, i really like the node editor's noise  shadder, and i was wondering if i could use it in a shadder field instead of using the standard noise. i really like the idea of creating and controlling a texture by nodes  but can i use it inside deformers or other places. 

Is it even possible?
