How to make All Objects Drop on Surface

Recommended Posts

Hey folks!

I have set up this scene and I want all the buildings to drop on ONE surface which is the cube.. I believe I should put a "Collider Body" Tag to the cube (right?), but what is the tag that i should put on all the buildings so that they drop on the cube and stay there?

Thanks!

The manual way is to make sure you use the Axis Centre from the Mesh menu.  Using the slider on the Y axis set to -100 will set the pivot for the object at the bottom of the object, you can do this for multiple objects.  Then set the position for the Y axis to 0 for that object..  There is also a script which iv see but not used called drop to the floor found here.

You could do it with dynamics, but if you don't need to see them drop in the render it's not worth the bother when DTF  or axis / object move would just do it without any simulation. But AFAIK DTF can't drop onto other surfaces not at floor level, so perhaps the manual method is best in this case.

Exactly, the buildings are on a ladder and every group is on a step so DTF cant work.. Looks like it will have to be manually.

    Thanks

Manually is fine. You can additionally use polygon snap to make sure they are exactly on the right surfaces...
