Detach clones to trigger other animation

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to create an animation and can't quite wrap my head around how to do this.

Let's say I have a cloner  that generates spheres along a spline and an effector that introduces some irregularity.

I want to animate those clones along the spline.

Now I need some clones to leave this sequence. They fly towards a defined point and build a new row by themselves.

I could realize this with keyframes as soon as they have left their cloner sequence, I'd prefer a parametric approch though. If you could provide any insight in how to make them leave the cloner (or if a completely different approach would be preferable), you really could help me out here.

How would you tackle this? Thanks for your input!

I've attached a beautifully drawn scribble of the problem.

Thanks!

You could put another spline in the main one that curves out. Its clones would seem part of the jumble at first, until they branched out.

Heres a simple version with inheritance effector and falloff. The rate perimeter on the cloner dictates the speed of movement. posi 2 clones are same number but hidden, and the inheritance sends the posi 1 clones to hidden posi 2 location if that makes sense.

Spline effector would also work but doesn't seem to take a mograph selection.

I had originally animated the strength of the inheritance effector but thats not required with the falloff working so you could delete that from the timeline.

Nice, I'll look into it tonight - looks like it's exactly what I need though.

    Thank you very much!
