Help with water and dynamics

Recommended Posts

Hey yall,

So I have this scene linked below. I am trying to get the water to be like a pond. Maybe with some dynamics as well. What's the best way to do this? I've tried Hot4D but have had little luck. Also, would Realflow be a better way to go about doing this?

Depends on what you want to do.

Does the water need to flow or swash? You need simulation software such as RealFlow or X-Particles

If not, then you can probably get away with an animated texture for the water.

I would like the water to flow/swash. I do have Realflow, but have only dabbled in it a bit. Is Realflow the way to go then?

I never used Realflow but afaik it's pretty much industry standard and it's definitely capable of what you want, so go for it.

If you're going for realism (for the water anyway), keep in mind that small areas of water don't have many "waves" or movement in general unless something hits it. Even then, the movement is very quick and done. Don't forget to post your results.
