Can this be done in C4D? Paint reveal

Recommended Posts

Hello C4D Cafe:

I hope this topic is in the correct section of the forum...

Was wondering if anyone knew if this (paint reveal of the product) technique in the attached video could be created in C4D?

I tried xpOVDBMesher simulation with an xp collider tag on the pen, but it ended up globby and could not obtain the clean cut down the center like in the attached video.

I also tried modeling the the round paint sphere and manually key framing the opening of the reveal, but it looked terrible.

Do you think think this effect was a simulation(with Xparticles or Realflow) or it was a animated model?

Any ideas?

Did you tried collision deformer?

(some dummy object as child of revealed object used as collider and collision deformer in Inside solver mode)

  • I guess it could be a pose-morph model, but it looks like the liquid paint is going in the crevasses (nooks) of the pen as it recedes back in space.

It might look like that., but I don't think it's the case. Probably red reflections on chrome that gives that impression ! I still think any kind of liquid sim is overthinking this...

  • Reflections on chrome? Whoa crazy!

I’m still scratching my head on this one.

    I’ll give it another try.

    Thanks CBR.
