Ae Exchange plugin not working with R21

Recommended Posts

I have projects in R21, and have installed the exchange plugin from the MAXON R21 folder into my Ae CC19 folder.

When I export an .aec file from R21 it doesn't open in after effects, it doesn't do anything. I have the R20 demo installed from when I was waiting for R21, and exporting from R20 works fine, and as expected.

The demo is going to expire in 16 days, so I won't be able to export project files after that.

Has anyone else come across this?

The .aec files has changed from "CINEMA 4D COMPOSITION" to "Cinema 4D COMPOSITION". The user can rename it in the header with a text editor to get the files (written by the current R21) imported into After Effects. If you replace line 1 from the R21 file with all caps version the R20 makes, the file works.

Ha! just logged on to update with that...Igor is spot on as confirmed from MAXON 🙂

As workaround, open the AEC file inside a noteeditor and edit the very first line from "Cinema 4D COMPOSITION" to "CINEMA 4D COMPOSITION". This should help until the bug has been fixed.
