One texture per particle

Hello all. I need to make a really simple setup of cards with one image per particle as texture.

using a multishader texture i can get it to almost work using a random effector to affect color, OR a step effector affecting clones (multishader set to index ratio) . problem is both solutions produce duplicate textures. I need exactly one image per particle. 

I have a feeling this problem comes up because the number of particles isn't the same as the number of textures I have loaded, but even if i limit the amount of particles i get the same result. Ideas?

Apply material to cloner, delete random and enable step effector. That will give you one texture from multishader per clone
