basic material question

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone...

Hopefully this is an easy one. I'm trying to edit an existing material, but many of the options (color, alpha, bump, etc) are not visible when I open the material window. I'm sure this is a simple fix but not for me apparently. Any help greatly appreciated!

Do you use takes?

Go back to main take...(Takes/activate "Main" layer)

I do not, although that is on my list of things to learn

You have not classic material, it looks like Danel Shader material...

For creating standard material just doubleclick in material manager

Is there no way to modify this with the channels I usually see in other materials?

Those are only channels for this shader, so standard parameters as in standard materials can not be added

You could try to replicate this shader in nodes...

  • I guess I forgot to point out that, although I've been using C4D for a few years, it is very sporadic use and I still consider myself a noob. I'm sure I could recreate this from scratch more easily than I could learn nodes. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!

Or check node presets, maybe car paint or metal with small adjustments should be enough
