Vertex map controlled texture w/voronoi

Wasn't sure whether to put this under materials or voronoi but voronoi seems to be the issue so here it goes:

that brighter yellow is being controlled by a vertex map which is controlled by some spherical fields (the orbs go into the hair strand and makes it healthy)

but i have it broken up with a voronoi, when the voronoi is enabled it wont work. For some reason it changes color a little bit later in the timeline but it seems to be controlled by some sort of noise (I disabled any noise shaders so not sure where that's coming from) either way it's not doing what I need it to do. Been stuck on this for a day.

Thanks in advance for any help. Here's the project without textures. I'm using redshift.

Can you reproduce the issue with standard material?
