Cinema 4D R21 Laggy Viewport

Recommended Posts

My R21 interface is quite laggy and unresponsive. Mainly I feel it's the mouse responsiveness inside R21. It's especially apparent while trying to drag a selection box (see video) but also when simply moving the mouse around it's apparent that I am not getting as many fps as outside the program.

I had R20 installed a while back and experienced no issues then.

This issue is driving me nuts and I'm not enjoying myself working in cinema when this persists.

Some system information:

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz, 4200 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Installed Physical Memory (RAM)    32,0 GB
GeForce 1080 & GeForce 980

Maybe not exactly related, but I experience slow drawing response in custom views created in plugins.

Have reported this to MAXON SDK, and it has been confirmed. A bug report was logged, but haven't received any further feedback.

Not sure when a workaround or fix will be provided.

While I don't experience this issue, something like this could well be related to HiDPI and/or screen scaling (which has also been worked on for R21). So I guess anyone jumping onto this topic would like to get more information: OS? Screen resolution? Any OS screen scaling activated?

I too experience this on occasions, and my screen scaling is 100%, but I have not so far managed to identify what combination of circumstances cause it when it's there, which certainly isn't all the time. So for me that one is filed under 'ongoing mysteries'...
