Anyone Know How To Do A Jacob's Ladder

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone here would know how to do a Jacob's Ladder effect.  You know the one  where an electrical arc  travels up 2 wires?  I have limited knowledge of Xpresso and haven't touched MoGraph.   I know this is asking a lot, but if you could provide a project file, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Al

It can be as simple as tracing a few nulls and displacing that...

Is this the sort of thing you're after ?

It's evolved a bit since then, and we now have a double glow on the electric bits, which you can tweak to your liking...

You should also pop any HDRI on the sky so you get the nice reflections on the aerials. This was made in R21, but should load into 17 OK.

Nitroman also has a cheap plug-in that makes effects like this easier. I haven't used this one, but usually hit stuff is pretty good.

Lols. Yeah, I was gonna mention that, and it does have a lot more going on between those nulls than my quick version did 🙂

  • This is what I ended up doing with Cerbera's version.  Cerbera, would it be okay if I posted your example to a LIS website?
