Hair rolls/indents on a fur coat

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if anyone has modeled a fur coat with indents like the attached image.

is this something that the base mesh is a  main factor, or is there a trick like painting a vertex map (lines) or something?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi.

If you select alternate polygon loops you get that effect.  You can get a thicker fill by creating a ramp in the curv for the hair thickness in the middle.  A bit of frizz your good to go.  You can also use desity maps as to where hair will grow, make a map of strips.

i couldn't reply to another one of your answers (MODIFY ANCHOR POINT OF A JOINT). i noticed that my mixamo rig hips is off center and it was driving me nuts. your solution and steps did the trick and got me unstuck, so thank you!
