Transfer Uv Mapped texture to Mixamo export.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

So I create this simple uv map for the face of my character. I uploaded the character without the textures to mixamo and had planned on just re -adding them back.

Once I found the animations I wanted to use from mixamo and downloaded them, I tried to add the texture to the face but it comes out all wonky.

They're the same shape so Idk what's going on. Anybody know what's going on?

I provided some screenshots below.

The head object doesn't appear to have a UV tag/map, which would certainly explain that...

  • I tried adding it, but it didn't seem to help much.

    Any other suggestions?

No you can't just add a new one. You need the UVs from the other model, which I don't think you can easily transfer to this one. Disconnecting (and indeed reconnecting) the head changes the point order of the mesh and breaks the UV of course, so your best best now is to UV unwrap the new model, with its new head, again, and then send it to Mixamo...

    Yes the uvws are missing.

I would recommend transfering the imported animation to the existing character. Import the fbx, apply a motion Clip to the joint chain from Animation menue and duplicate the motion tag over to the old Joint chain. The rig structure must be identical in this workflow

Another fix would be using VAMP to transfer uvws. Align the two heads as close as possible and try to transfer the uvs in the VAMP Manager. But be aware the tool is buggy
