What kind of music you listen, while you work? Lets share!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I am curious to hear what kind of music you prefer when you working? For me it depends on a mood. At the moment I am stuck with amazing sound of orchestral music like

To Zanarkand is something I cant simply get enough of. Its a journey when you listen this performance, amazing.

Recently I also discovered studio Ghibli and their amazing soundtrack,

So what about you folks, what drives you toward finish line and what keeps your cool in check when you have moments of doubts? 🙂

Peripherys guitar sound is simply amazing, as is their music even if it doesn't fit my taste 100%. I've hear the track I linked about 100 times already, it's SO good. Can't really say I enjoy Lit

I exist in the darker/brutal realms of Metal from old to new, with hints of Synth/Electronic and Industrial. Here's my Bandcamp collection, which is mostly newer stuff: https://bandcamp.com/dreamingti

Great idea!

Actually depends on what I'm doing exactly. If it's something I really have to concentrate on it's either nothing at all or stuff like this:

I've found a great playlist on Spotify for this kind of stuff: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2POsysj8dTuOCAMPYVsgeO?si=YyNKIAHhRmuB-nJ9Fh0n0g

Otherwise, if I don't have to concentrate too much or if I'm just working on tedious stuff it's normally just Metalcore and related genres.

My two favorites right now:

That periphery track is possibly my favourite guitar sound of all time !  That is some killer Djenting they have going on there 😉

But, as partial as I might be to some prog metal fun (and there Liturgy  and Animals as Leaders win the crown for me) I don't find it helps with the 3D's (too full-on and distracting), so I'm with Igor on the nice chilled out epic orchestral soundtracks there - Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings is a strong favourite, as is anything by John Williams, Trevor Morris, Bryan Tyler or Hans Zimmer.

Can't really say I enjoy Liturgy, that stuff is simply... too experimental for me 😅

And yeah I mean, in the end it's all about my mood and what I'm doing. Theres days where I simply can't stand more than 20mins of shredding metal guitars and there's days where I just need the power of it.

There's no doubt epic compositions from artists like John Williams ALWAYS work though.

Just checking you heard this... tell me you weren't rockin' when the half time kicked in 😉

However, since that is not for everyone, I really enjoy movie scores as well. Some of my favorites are Basil Poledouris' Conan soundtracks, as well as John Carpenter's Escape From New York. Here is one of John Carpenter's Anthologies: https://johncarpentermusic.bandcamp.com/album/anthology-movie-themes-1974-1998

Awesome shares folks. I am sold on Guy dude...my type of music too. :cowboypistol:Jay, LotR is also one of my favorites, like I said, with me it depends on the mood I am in. Music always served me to lift me up and LotR have special place in my heart.

@Vizn thats to dark for me! 😅

Sit in your car and let this run. It's amazing. God I can't wait for Doom Eternal.

Funfact: the guide hid some stuff in his soundtrack

@Vizn Most of that stuff is way too dark / hard for me as well 😞 not a fan of Black Metal at all unfortunately.

I also love orchestral music, but my tastes range to pretty much anything that has a good beat or compelling lyrics.  And if it is from the 80's (Billy Joel, Meatloaf, Elton John, Queen, Supertramp, Rolling Stones, The Who)...well, they are the classics aren't they?   Also, the music has to create a mood (sad, happy, angry, call to action, soothing, etc) and therefore I tend to prefer production music because their music is usually categorized as such based on the mood that needs to be created to fit whatever is being produced.

But if you want an absolute bottomless well of any type of music you can think of streamed to your PC for free, I can think of no better site than Extreme Music.com (https://www.extrememusic.com/).

Just go to that site and search on whatever your in the mood for.  Now they may not have main stream talent, but they have good talent (some you have and have not heard of) and tons of variety.

If you want chill....James Horner.  Field of Dreams end theme is just outstanding as well as his composition called "The Horsemen".  Sad story actually.  The Horsemen were an aerial acrobatic team and James Horner was training with them to be a acrobatic pilot.  He wrote "The Horseman" as a tribute to his friends and teachers and something that they could play while performing.  In an interview, he said he never felt more free than when he flew and wanted that freedom to be reflected in his composition.

James Horner passed away in 2015 while flying his acrobatic plane.  He was my favorite composer and I feel that loss to this very day.

If you want dark, may I suggest "Wicked Gonna Come" from Extreme music: https://www.extrememusic.com/albums/3140

Not metal, but I just love the beat.

Well, Spotify works for me 24/7 :)) not a specific genre but, strictly it should not be fast and confusing. I need to focus on work 😅 Loreena Mckennitt is my weapon of choice haha
