extrude in a special case

hey guys

is there any way to extrude inner just with horizontal or vertical neighbors surfaces?

let me say by example

i select these surfaces :

i want to extrude inner only columnar , like this :

You will need to select your "columns" one by one and perform an extrude on each separate selection.

    did the same thing

    i want to know is there any easier way to do that

    No there isn't, although in this case you could have done the outside 2 in one go, then the remaining one. This is made even easier by the New transform button of the Extrude (and most other modelling commands), which will do exactly what it did last time, which is good for consistency.

     

    Btw - you should reverse your Normals on that model.

    btw, sometimes could help with selection command Phong Break Selection (U~N).

    Playing with value you could select islands of surfaces for really fast selection. In this example you could just select every second column, apply inner extrude, switch back to phong break selection, select every column between extruded, switch back to inner extrude and get new transform...
