Best way to achieve this effect?

Recommended Posts

Hi again! I'm getting into the physics of C4D and am very impressed with the flexibility and breadth of tools...but I'm trying to get a better handle on dynamics and have been looking around for an answer to the best way to get this effect. Okay, so you might have seen in a video or movie where people have "dollar bill guns" that flip out hundreds of single bills in just a few seconds. I'm looking to create that type of effect but with playing cards. I've looked all over for a relevant tutorial....but everything appears to use emitters...and I'd REALLY like to use MoGraph and/or cloth dynamics to get the result below.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can use cloth dynamics with Emitters together no problem. Especially if you want an "endless stream" of paper I don't think you can get around using an emitter. I think that's just the best choice here since the gun does exactly what an emitter does... it emits money.

I wouldn't use cloth for this because cloth doesn't move like paper does, and because it doesn't feature any aerodynamic properties, unlike soft bodies, which do...

Right, my bad!

Emitter and MoGraph are not mutually exclusive. You can clone onto the particles created with standard emitter or TP. The clones will even inherit some of the parameters of the particles if you want.

Man, this is a true sign that I'm getting old! I never even considered soft bodies! You must be going for sainthood or something! You've probably taught me as much about C4D as my college years taught me about business. THANK YOU!!!

I don't think of them as exclusive of one another, but instead, I'm looking to find the simplest way to make the proverbial wheel roll. Sometimes, my logic outweighs my knowledge...and in those times, I turn to the experts here!

    Thank you!

Well, you never thought of soft bodies because those can really bog down the system for this many objects... so I might use another solution unless I really want to have the most precise results 😕
