Reduce the shadow strength on the floor

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm working on some illustrations and looking for a way to reduce the shadow strenght on the floor. I tried multiple things with the HDRI settings, but not succeeding. I am using a shadow catcher to export a transaparant background. In the image above place on white and blue. On blue it looks fine, but on white I want a barely visable shadow. Like 20% of strenght seen on the right, but with the same lightning and exposure on the object itself.

Any ideas/tips on how to tweak shadow strenght on the floor?

Thanks in advance

Layer list:

- A shadow catcher

- An HDRI environment primary

- A visible black environment black, otherwise the shadow is the HDRI color.

Hi. For this kind of simple issue i would solve it in comp. So:

1 - Render your object with an id and a background.

2 - Render a background without object

3 - In comp use the object matte to separate it from the background. Then u can use the render of your background without shadow and comp it with opacity, as you like.
