Very long render preparation time

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

First time posting here. Im trying to render my first C4D animation, but when i start rendering some of the later frames (259 for example) it is preparing for hours, i've never actually had it start rendering if i start on those later frames. There are complicated objects coming from emitters with rigid body tags so that might be creating some issues?

Could you advise me how to try and simplify my scene a bit to enable me to render?

Im running R21 with C4DtoA on Windows 10, 30gb RAM and an Intel Xeon E5-2623 v4. This my project file if useful.

Thanks in advance.

Bake the dynamics ?

Hi!

Basically bake/ cache everything that needs to be calculated on a frame-by-frame basis, also hair, cloth etc. Otherwise C4D will run through the calculation from frame 0 each time.

Sometimes the culprit might be things that one wouldn't think about, for example it took me hours to figure out that my Gorillacam tag (from a plugin) was causing a calculation and slowdown in my renders. Just cache everything where you have the option to cache.

Also: As you use C4DtoA, high clone/ instance counts lead to longer export times, which effects your render time. To avoid that, export the original emitted object as .ass and load the  direclty into Arnold via the Arnold procedural object. This can speed up your render substantially.

    Thanks for your help.

Quick question, does it matter if i bake my dynamics first and then my particle emitters? As in, does the order i do it in matter? Is there a bake/cache workflow/order i should adhere to?
