Normal rotate on X

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I wanted to make a grille so I thought the best way would be to rotate all my polygons on their normal:

Buuuut, the normal rotate only seems to work on one axis, Z in my case I think, whereas I would like a rotation on X to get them all to move individually. Is such a thing possible?

Better off making sure each blade has its object axis centred and then use the Per Object Manipulation setting in the rotate tool, do this on object selection not polygon selection.

Thanks - did you split the polys out first to form individual blades?

Yup, split them selected them all and run the Axis Centre "Centre Axis To" command.

Yep, Normal Rotate not the tool for this. Another option is just to clone a single blade, and use the angle controls in the Cloner to sort this out.

Yes, this is what I did in the end to get better rotation, but I like to explore these options otherwise I'll never learn anything 🙂
