How do I delete a polygon while keeping it's edges?

As the title says, how do I delete a polygon while keeping it's edges?

You can't. While polys and points exist as object data, edges are just the connection between two adjacent points on a polygon. Without polygon information, there is no edge.

You can create a linear spline from the edge, of course. But that's not the same as an edge collection.

Thanks for clearing up, would love for MAXON to add this feature in future releases.

Won't ever happen, in this software or any other. Edges cannot exist without polygons, and that is the end of that.

Besides c4d and zbrush, every other software lets you have edges or "lines" by themselves. Houdini, blender, maya, 3dsmax, xsi, fusion, modo... etc, even rhino and moi3d if you count nurbs lines. The gif in my first post is a pretty good example of this. I'm not saying c4d NEEDS faceless edges but it could be useful being able to turn edges into curves for mograph but I'm sure there's an xpresso workout or plugin for that...
