it is same on Houdini forums, go out of your way to answer a question with a file included and get nothing. no it worked, no thank you - nothing. usually it is a one and done posting.

And if people keep doing that (sometimes more than once), and happily display both an unwillingness to put in the work themselves and an unwillingness to actually pay for professional help (not to mention a reputation and relationships of their own), the few who are willing to answer questions for free get less and less willing, until the forum is finally completely dead.

People have no clue any more how forums are (ideally) working.

compared to 20 years ago the web got really commercialized the big companies earn huge amounts of money just by people using their sides (and giving away data). and the amount of information you can find on these sites ist amazing because the companies do not have to provide it themselves (web2.0). Adding to that there are a few tutorial rockstars out there (linus techtips and so on) and they are making serious money. Today getting a influencer is a dream like getting a rock star was in my youth. If you put all this together it makes sense, that people that never experienced the old days today have the impression, that it is absolutely ok to just consume the information instead of also contributing to it: "The platform is making serious money with content of people that make serious money or that get a kick of showing off"(even if this of course is not true for a forum like this) So why bothering. They just don't know better.

I just wish MAXON would make an Indie version of C4D that's a bit more affordable for hobbyists. The affordable cut down editions were great for that (Broadcast edition had enough features for me while being significantly cheaper than Studio), but they have been eliminated.

I really wish they do consider that in the future, an indie version of C4D.
Specially now with Maya Indie arriving worldwide to compete with Blender, MAXON needs to start thinking more of its indie users.

They definitely need. My friend used to teach Cinema 4D and After Effects online and he switched to Blender and have now like a huge amount of students taking his classes, helping spread the word, etc. Specially here with the taxes that we face, low currency conversion and late payment by clients, free or cheaper software is a must.

This Friday Max/Maya Indie will also be available. Full software for $250/year. I just let my Modo maintanence lapse and will probably follow with a combo of Blender and Max. Do I prefer Cinema? Yes ... I always had a love for Cinema, but it's just too expensive.

Houdini Indie is $269 USD a year or $399 for two years rental. if you let if lapse it reverts to Apprentice which is fully functional  except you can't export/import FBX and use 3rd party render
