Nonlinear Editing for C4D's Take-System...

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

Right now I'm working on a music video with a lot of different scenes;

everything should also be very synced with the beat (movements, lights, etc.).

So right now it's quite tedious to setup a scene, render a quick  preview

and then cut and edit the previews in Premiere; then go back to Cinema,

find the right scene file, make some progress, render again etc. etc. etc.

So I thought -- with 'just' some tweaks to the awesome Take-System, everything

could happen inside C4D. Perhaps like in the attachment. You would specify a

length for the take and then happily edit the Takes together in Cinemas Timeline,

just like any Non-linear Editor.

Playing back the whole timeline, the viewport would just jump from take to take,

providing a full feedback of your current project. You could even implement some

powerful stuff, like "Render everything and export timeline to NLE" or even

have the timelines of C4D and Premiere linked.

Oh, and by the way: The Take-System should also be able to apply different

MotionClips to a char.

Or maybe, there's a simple tried-and-proven-workflow for such tasks, that I'm simply

not aware of? Then I'd be kindly interested in some directions 🙂

Thanks guys!

Do you have a different camera for each take? If keyframe the cameras for each take with the stage object would render out the different angles.
You can create render takes for the specific frames you want produced as well I just learned. It's pretty versatile as it is, but not sure if this answers your question

Thanks for your tip regarding the Stage Object! I never heard of that one before 🙂

This should actually enable playing automatically through different takes.

Nonetheless, moving and cutting takes in the timeline would be a great UX simplification...

Thanks again!
