C4D crashing whenever I add an object or spline.

Hey guys. 

 

Iv recently started using cinema 4d and for some reason its started to crash on me. Every time I open C4D it seems to start up fine however as soon as I add an object, I get the dreaded beach ball loading cycle and the system just doesn't respond. I don't have any plug ins and have fully cleaned my mac software, Im also getting no bug report. I've added a screen recording to show you what I mean. The video also shows my activity monitor and the bug report folder with no content. Do you have any suggestions as to why it's just not working ? The video is attached below.

Huh, its hard to say. This seems specific. Please update your profile information so we have more clues.

I've updated my profile a bit if this helps. I have restarted my mac swell as reinstalling C4D multiple times but I'm still stuck with the same problem for some reason.

Ok, first suspect Big Sur update. Question remain if anyone else with the same specs have the same issue. This is to be seen, until then it would be best if you contact Maxon support.

I'm also currently having this issue. While it's a bummer, I'm glad to know that this seems to be a systemic bug and not something I alone have been encountering.

Yep, me too, on my MBP after upgrading to BigSur.   Cannot send a crash report either.   I tried trashing all my preferences.  Still nothing.  Crashing immediately after adding an object to the scene.

To anyone still experiencing this:

 

I had the same issue and took it to MAXON's support. Here's what they found:

"Big Sur has issues with Intel-only-gfx machines with a certain gpu variant. We have reported the issue to Apple so they can fix the regression."

 

So it's up to Apple to fix this. As a temporary solution, all MAXON can recommend is downgrading to Catalina.

Thank you,  Yes my 2015 MBP has the Intel Iris Pro GPU running into same issues since BigSur/R23 upgrade.   Looks like I'll have to wait for Apple to fix?  That may take a long time or never happen.  I'll send a report to Apple.

The new update Apple Big sure 11.1 doesn't change anything. We can wait a little while for them to fix the problem...
